
Research and Networking Project
With an aim to further support Japanese film makers and film producers and to strengthen the networking with overseas film promotion organizations and research institutes, UNIJAPAN carries out the following activities:
1. Research Project on International Co-production Schemes (Supported by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry)
This project is carried out as a part of Support Program for International Co-production 'J-Pitch' since 2007. In cooperation with overseas film promotion organizations and film research institutes, UNIJAPAN gathers statistical data on overseas film industry markets and co-production support schemes and releases it in Japanese at J-Pitch official website. Only during the year 2008, UNIJAPAN has managed to network with film organizations from over 10 countries in Asia, Europe and North America and exchange the data on film market statistics and support programs for international co-productions including cultural test regulations, therefore, enabling Japanese film makers and producers interested in international co-productions to easily access this information in Japanese.
2. Publications (Supported by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry)
The Guide to Korean Film Industry and Production
In cooperation with Korean Film Council (KOFIC), UNIJAPAN translated 'The Guide to Korean Film Industry and Production', a Korean publication issued by KOFIC in October 2008. The Japanese version of this guide was made by UNIJAPAN in November 2008 and issued by KOFIC in 300 copies.The Japanese version of the guide is distributed free of charge to Japanese film makers intrested in co-producing with South Korea.

The Guide to Japanese Film Industry and Co-production
In cooperation with Kinema Junpo Film Institute , UNIJAPAN has issued 'The Guide to Japanese Film Industry and Coproduction', an English guidebook to furthering the understanding of the work and condition of Japanese film market and the opportunities it provides for the international co-productions. The guide gives the general information and guidelines considered necessary for the overseas filmmakers interested in co-producing with Japan.
The Guide to Japanese Film Industry and Coproduction is produced, published and distributed by UNIJAPAN International Promotion Department under the support of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

3. Asian Film Industry Network (AFIN)
UNIJAPAN is an active member of Asian Film Industry Network (AFIN), a network of Asian film organizations whose establishment was initiated by Korean Film Council (KOFIC) in 2005. AFIN is a network of film organizations representing various film industies purposed to promote Asian film industry and to stimulate marketing overseas with a background of comprehending the cultural diversity in Asia. As of January 2009, the following organizations are the memebers of AFIN: The Federation of National Film Associations of Thailand (FNFAT), Korean Film Council (KOFIC), Singapore Film Commission (SFC), UNIJAPAN (Japan's Association of the International Promotion of the Moving Image), Vietnam Media Corporation (VMCorp).
As of January 2009, AFIN office is managed by UNIJAPAN Int'l Promotion Department / Research and Networking Project.
