2010 Screen Tourism Promotion Project is now accepting applications
Japan Tourism Agency has established Screen Tourism Promotion Project this year to promote inbound tourism through support for feature films and TV dramas. The Agency has conducted two working groups to discuss the issue and now seeks model case productions that may become the standard for future support and cooperation. We look forward to receiving many applications.
- Screen tourism means that those interested in feature films or TV dramas, instigated by viewing, and/or otherwise coming in contact with, the work, come visit the location where the work was filmed.
1. Application period and number of entries accepted
There will be two separate application periods. Each production can only be entered once (you may not enter the same production for both the filming and scouting assistance applications.)
�Location Filming Assistance application:
Application Period: 23 August 2010 (Mon) - 3 September 2010 (Fri)
Number of projects selected: three (3) or less location filming assistance
�Location Scouting Assistance application:
Application Period: 25 October 2010 (Mon) - 5 November 2010 (Fri)
Number of projects selected: approximately three (3) location scouting assistance
2. Details of the grant
The following assistance will be provided.
1) Information for conducting filming in Japan
2) Reimbursement of expenses
For location filming: Up to �5,000,000 For location scouting: Up to �1,000,000
(Applicable expenses: travel costs to Japan, accommodation and transportation costs incurred while in Japan)
There are also plans for joint promotion/tourism tie-in with the production and local communities together after the production is completed.
